Monroe Crusoe was born in Monrovia, Liberia, west Africa. Unto the union of Nora Dean Crusoe and Monroe H. Crusoe. At the age of nine he started singing at talent shows and dramatic clubs around Monrovia and for the occasional visiting tourist to make a little money. By the time he turned fifteen he was performing in local musical groups such as the Gardeners band, the Psychodelic Six, at the Ducor Inter-Continental Hotel, the principle hotel for visiting dignitaries and business travelers. He sang for twelve years at the Ducor Inter-Continental Hotel. Monroe continued his singing at private parties and other social functions in and about Monrovia. In 1999 Monroe had the good fortune of relocating to New York where he has continued his his musical career singing again at private functions in and about the city. He now performs under De Jam record label. Monroe enjoys and takes great pride and pleasure singing. Monroe considers himself a classical musician; sing both original and others’ material.
